ADHD assessment – frequently asked questions
An ADHD assessment is a comprehensive evaluation designed to determine whether you meet the criteria for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). It looks at your current symptoms, personal history, and how these impact your daily life, including work, education, and relationships.
How does your ADHD assessment process work?
Our ADHD assessments are carried out over two separate appointments to ensure a thorough and accurate diagnosis.
Appointment 1:
This session focuses on gathering detailed background information, including your current concerns, developmental history, and any relevant medical or mental health history.
Appointment 2:
In the second session, we complete the diagnostic assessment, review your symptoms in line with clinical criteria, and discuss the outcome with you. If appropriate, we will provide a diagnosis and talk through next steps, including treatment options and support.
What makes your ADHD assessment different from other clinics?
We keep things simple, thorough, and genuinely patient-focused. We don’t believe in quick, tick-box assessments. Each appointment is given the time it needs, so you can speak openly and feel properly heard.
Two-appointment assessment process
Your assessment is carried out over two separate appointments, allowing us to build a full picture of your experiences rather than rushing to a conclusion.
Focus on real-life impact
We don’t just look at symptoms on paper — we explore how these affect your day-to-day life, including work, relationships, routines, and overall wellbeing.
Holistic approach with ongoing support
We look at the bigger picture, not just diagnosis. Where appropriate, we can link you with a counsellor for additional support, helping you manage challenges and move forward with confidence.
Down-to-earth, supportive approach
We know this can feel like a big step. Our style is friendly, supportive, and understanding.
Beyond the ordinary
We want you to feel reassured, understood, and confident in taking the next step. This isn't a rushed or tick-box exercise.
You'll have the time and space to talk openly about your experiences without feeling judged or dismissed. Your assessment takes place over two appointments, giving us the time to fully understand your history and how ADHD may be affecting your life.
We focus on how things impact your day-to-day life—not just symptoms on a checklist—so the outcome truly reflects you. Assessments are carried out by an NMC-registered clinician, following professional standards you can trust.
We take a holistic approach, and where helpful, can connect you with a counsellor for ongoing support—you’re not left on your own after the assessment. It’s okay to feel unsure or nervous, many people come to us feeling this way.
